Scandal-navia

After a one week hiatus we're back and this week have some Scandinavian scandal for you in the form of Zlatan Ibrahimovic being subject to a shooting attempt and John Carew's new guise as a mafia member. We also feature a generous Ipswich player, Gerard Pique's wardrobe and Yaya Toure's birthday.

Football Circus Clown Quote of the Week
"If Sunderland win here it'll throw the pigeons among the cats".
- Not the first and probably not the last time we'll feature Mr. Paul Merson.

Ipswich Player Proves Himself a Hero On & Off the Pitch
Ipswich took on Norwich in an East Anglican derby Championship playoff first-leg on Saturday, with the Tractor Boys coming from 1-0 down to earn a 1-1 draw. The scorer of the Ipswich goal was winger Paul Anderson and he has won over more fans this week after an act of generousity garnered him more headlines.
Ipswich fan Ross Morgan was watching the match in his sitting room and when Anderson's goal went in, his delight got the better of him. He tweeted a photo of his cut fist and a hole in his ceiling, with the caption:
"I've just punched a whole in my ceiling when we scored!!! Do I care? No! #itfc #coyb".
He later tweeted the pictures to Anderson. To Morgan's surprise, Anderson replied with a tweet which read:
"@rossmorgan1989 tell me how much to fix it and I'll pay it mate".
Speaking to BBC Sport, Morgan said:
"I only sent it to him because I thought he might have thought it was funny.
"Then he replied saying he’d pay for it. I was pretty shocked by that. It’s a great gesture from him.
"I’m 25 years old but footballers who play for your team are still your heroes. It was really good of him.
"I wasn’t too happy because they’d just scored but then when Ando scored I just lost it.
"I went for a fist pump while jumping up at the same time. The next thing I knew I had gone through the ceiling".

Zlat's Not On - Swedish Murderer Claims He Intended to Shoot Ibra
A Swedish murderer by the name of Peter Mangs has revealed in book which he wrote behind bars, that he intended to shoot Paris Saint Germain striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Mangs is currently serving a life sentence in Sweden for two murders and seven attempted murders, in addition to being linked to 15 shootings between 2009 and 2010.
Mangs claims in his book that he once spotted Ibrahimovic's Ferrari parked illegally and was so infuriated, that he wanted to add him to his list of victims. Ibra, who is of Bosnian descent, had according to Mangs, displayed "typically Balkan behaviour".
He continued:
"I thought there would be a proper hullabaloo in the media if the gent in question were to be shot".
Sounds like Zlat quite literally dodged a bullet.

Carew Begins Acting Career
Move over Eric Cantona. Former Aston Villa striker John Carew has decided to pursue an acting career and his first role sees him playing Igor, a mafia member. Høvdinger is a Norwegian gangster film and sees Carew play the lead.
A modest Carew told Norwegian television channel VGTV:
"It's a fun and interesting role.
"I would compare myself with Will Smith and 'The Rock', perhaps".

Pique Gets Shirty
Playing for your boyhood club, winning the World Cup, Euros, Champions League, La Liga and Premier League amongst numerous other trophies and having a pop star girlfriend...You'd think Gerard Pique has enough without having to rub more in our faces, wouldn't you? Well think again. Because this week the Barcelona defender has taken to Twitter to show off his jersey collection.
The Spanish international has quite the haul. He accompanied a photo of the collection with the caption:
"Ordering the Cabinet, here's some of the t-shirts that I was finding. What you like most?".

What do You Say, Toure? Irish Club Makes an Offer to Yaya
The 13th of May marked Yaya Toure's birthday and also the year anniversary of the date attributed to Toure's hissy fit, whereby he and his agent bemoaned the lack of acknowledgement by Man City of his special day.
This year, the Mancs have made sure to recognise Toure's birthday with the following tweet:
But City weren't the only ones to pass on their well wishes to the big Ivorian. Irish side Cabinteely United also took to Twitter to wish Yaya a happy birthday and also took the opportunity to remind the midfielder of the upcoming transfer window.

What's Mad Mario Upto this Week?
Balotelli has been the subject of much derision this season given his abject form for Liverpool but former Liverpool striker Luis Suarez, the man whom many have said Balotelli was a replacement for, has leapt to the Italian's defence.
Speaking to Mundo Depotivo, the Barca man said:
"I think Mario has played for big clubs, proving himself to be a formidable player.
"It is not easy to place himself at Manchester City and return to England. It has not been easy for him but he is still a great player".
However Balo was dropped completely from Liverpool's squad ahead of their game against Chelsea on Sunday. Manager Brendan Rodgers all but admitted that the striker has simply not been good enough. Rodgers told Sky Sports ahead of the clash which ended 1-1:
"He's just not selected in the squad.
"We've got a young striker in Jerome Sinclair, who's been doing fanatic in our youth and reserve teams.
"He's scored a lot of goals and this is an opportunity for him to come in.
"He works tirelessly every day and Mario is just not in the squad".
Meanwhile, Balo took to Instagram this week to defend his old pal Jerome Boateng after the German came in for criticism having  been turned inside out by Barcelona’s Lionel Messi in their Champions League semi-final first leg last week.

Italian Football Story of the Week
- Robin-Go: Milan Bid Farewell to Brazilian
What is it with AC Milan and creative Brazilians in recent years? No, we're not talking about Milanese women with 'landing strips' or lightning bolts, rather the likes of Ronaldinho, Kaka and Pato all up and leaving to return to their homeland. The latest to join the ranks is former Man City and Real Madrid winger, Robinho.
Robinho has been on loan at Santos and has now been released early from his Milan contract, so is expected to join his loan team permanently. As well as releasing Robinho, the Rossoneri released an accompanying statement:
"Robinho wore Rossonero from the summer of 2010 until the summer of 2014, and made a significant contribution in terms of goals and performance to the 18th Scudetto won by Milan 2010-11, as well as the Supercoppa in Beijing in August 2011.
"Although the relationship between the club and the Brazilian has been terminated one year before the end of his contract, we do not forget the quality contribution of Robinho to the Milan cause.
"Goodbye, and good luck, Robi".

Artist's Impression of the Week
- Ibra Dodges Bullet; Zlatan Ibrahimovic avoids being shot by serial killer.

Football Recommendation of the Week
 - FC Cologne Logo on the Hoover Dam; German PR agency Oliver Schrott Kommunikation this week projected a 39,000 square metre image of the FC Cologne logo onto the Hoover Dam in an effort to show off the dam's new lighting system. In doing so, they set a new Guinness world record. Impressive stuff.

Non-Football Recommendation of the Week
 - Take My Hand (Matt Berry); You may know Matt Berry as an actor (the I.T. Crowd), writer and comedian, but it would appear he's also a talented musician as this tune will testify. Some people have all the talent, eh?
